This project included first learning about the animals you might find in a safari and how safaris are different from what you would see around here. Another really cool trick that we learned was to draw upside down as you focus more on the lines and what they look like then the picture as a whole. We were to choose an animal to draw in a cool blue color, then we covered our drawing with three different shape patterns in warm colors to "hide" our drawing. We also created special glasses that allowed us to see the drawing through our patterns on top. I think that kids would absolutely love this project and I can't wait to try it in my own classroom.
An extension activity I could use this for is you could hide spelling words in the patterns and students would have to find their spelling words and spell them to a partner as practice.
